Sarasota Memorial's Courtyard Tower
The Future of Patient Care
Construction soon will be underway on Sarasota Memorial’s new courtyard tower, a key component of the hospital’s campus improvement project. Designed to enhance patient, physician and staff satisfaction, improve safety and meet the community’s changing health needs, the new tower will replace the oldest buildings on campus.
Departments slated to move into the new tower include the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Labor and Delivery, Orthopedics, Medical-Surgical units and customer support areas. A number of other departments will relocate to newly renovated areas in other parts of the campus.
The campus improvement project includes a completely re-designed entryway to help patients get to the care they need, quickly and efficiently. Medical services in the new tower will connect to their counterparts in the existing hospital, making it easier for people to find their way throughout the institution. Perhaps most importantly from patients' point of view, 70 percent of the tower's rooms will be private, and all will feature the most advanced, patient-friendly, patient-safe design amenities. The new facility also will have the latest hurricane proofing available to help ensure continuing patient care in the event of a severe storm. Campus renovations will proceed in phases over the next three to four years, with plans subject to change. |
