Meet Our Employee and Leader of the Year:
This past spring, Sarasota Memorial hosted its annual Awards of Excellence Ceremony to recognize the many achievements of staff, physicians and volunteers. Singled out from more than 4,000 employees as Sarasota Memorial's 2008 EXCEL Employee of the Year was Jackie Bland, RN, of the Renal/Diabetic and Wound Care Unit. An employee since 1982, Bland has served as an invaluable resource for colleagues and a role model for excellence in patient care.
2008 Leader of the Year Adeana Osika heads the Food and Nutrition Department, Diabetes Treatment Services and Comprehensive Bariatric Program. An employee since 1994, Adeana is a true SMHCS success story, starting out as a dietetic intern and working her way up to become a respected director.

The highlight of Sarasota Memorial's 2008 Nurses’ Week in May was the naming of this year's Magnet Nurses and PCAs of Excellence. Chosen by their peers from more than 1,200 SMHCS caregivers, the staff represent the dedication and expertise of the entire patient care team.
