Sarasota Memorial Hospital Online Continuing Medical Education Program

Sarasota Memorial Hospital is accredited by the Florida Medical Association to provide AMA PRA Category I Credit™ for physicians. The Medical Education Committee, under the direction of Bruce Robinson, MD, manages the CME Program.

You must register for the Program through Terri Levanti, CME Specialist in Medical Staff Services. An annual fee of $50 is required in order to receive CME. Cash and checks can be accepted; checks should be made out to the Sarasota Medical Foundation. Terri can be reached at 941-917-5959 or via email at terri-levanti@smh.com.

We offer a 1 hour Grand Rounds activity on Friday Mornings at 8:00 a.m. in the hospital auditorium. Please check the on-line calendar for schedule: CME Calendar

Mandatory activities are available for CME credit on-line via the SMH library web-site.

Requirement for On-Line course completion Participants will listen to the online seminar, review associated graphics and complete a post-test and course evaluation. Participants must correctly answer 70% of the test questions to receive credit. If a grade of at least 70% is not achieved, this course and test may be repeated one time only.

All Grand Rounds activities are audio taped and available as a pod-casts via SMH’s web-site

Consistent with our commitments to education and excellence at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, the organization has partnered with the Graduate Education Foundation in offering our healthcare providers access to the CMElectures.org series of educational seminars. We anticipate that you will find the lectures interesting, informative and clinically useful. You must be registered in the CME Program and have paid the annual fee through Medical Staff Services in order to access these lectures. Please call the CME Specialist at 941-917-5959 for username and password. **Please note that credit for these activities is given through the CMElectures.org accredited program, not through SMH’s accreditation.

eeds TM Electronic Education Documentation System
Internet Point of Care CME (POC) describes structured, self-directed, online learning by physicians on topics relevant to their clinical practice. Learning for this activity is driven by a reflective process in which physicians must document their clinical question, the sources consulted and the application to practice. Physicians conducting structured online searches on clinical topics may claim a half (0.5) AMA PRA Category 1 Credit for documented completion. Utilize eeds TM to document your Self Declared Activities. Call Patti Reynolds in the Bishopric Medical Library at 941-917-1730 to utilize this tool

Please visit the following websites for licensure requirements:
MDs – Florida Department of Health http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/medical/me_ceu.html DOs – Florida Osteopathic Medical Association http://www.foma.org/cme.htm

CME must be taken before the expiration date of your license in order to count toward the renewal of your current license. For example, an MD whose license expires January 31, 2011 must complete any required credits before midnight on January 31, 2011. Credit earned after that date will count toward the next renewal.

If you have questions, please call Terri Levanti at 941-917-5959 or email terri-levanti@smh.com. Please provide your full name and contact information.
