medical staff organization and its functions.
VISION
The Medical Staff Office is the first line of defense with regard to Patient
Safety. This takes place through excellence in the credentialing and
recredentialing process which ensures that all practitioners are properly
trained, currently competent and able to provide the highest quality health care
services. We will strive to enhance the work done by the medical staff and
assist in bringing the practitioners at SMHCS into a cohesive body which
promotes high quality and safe patient care
The Medical Staff office:
►provides
coordination for the day-to-day activities of the organized medical staff
►provides support for medical staff activities related to medical staff
governance
►serves as a
resource for interpretation of Bylaws, Rules and Regulations
►provides
administrative support for medical staff officer
►provides
appropriate credentialing information to hospitals and institutions when
requested
►initiates
reports to governmental agencies when required
►maintains
a database of the medical staff
►provides a
liaison for the medical staff offices and the hospital
►recognizes
ethical issues surrounding medical staff activities
►coordinates
the credentialing and reappointment activities and integrates with QI
►serves as a
liaison for physician administrative interactions
The medical staff office
maintains complete and current credentials files for all members of the
medical staff and the allied health professional staff.
Location:ground floor of the hospital in the Retter Wing, by the Arlington
Street entrance.
