The Sarasota Memorial Breast Health Center is proud of its commitment to breast health and the well being of women in this community. Advanced imaging technology is combined with comprehensive and compassionate care. Superior screening and diagnostic services are provided in a comfortable and supportive environment.
We
have established four centers across town for convenience and increased
accessibility. We offer screening Mammography at our Institute for Advanced Medicine, University Parkway and
Blackburn Point clinics. Our clinic in the Waldemere Tower on campus is also
known as the Breast Health Center and is a comprehensive breast center. They
offer Screening and Digital Diagnostic Mammography, Breast Ultrasound,
Ultrasound guided breast biopsy, and an on-site Radiologist. The Breast Health
center works in conjunction with the Cape Surgery Center to perform stereotactic
breast biopsies. The team consists of Radiologist, Surgeons, Nurses and
mammographers, combining their skills and experience in performing the most
advanced biopsy procedures. The Breast Health Center has two oncology nurses to
provide pre and post care for all biopsy patients. They are also available to
teach breast self-examination to any mammography patient.
Patients that are referred to the Breast Health Center not only experience the
advantage of a comprehensive program, but also are cared for by a staff that has
over thirty years of experience in mammography and has developed a level of
compassion and commitment that is not offered in any other center. Upon arrival
the patient is expressed through the registration process. The mammographer, who
will remain with her throughout the appointment, then greets her and brings her
back to begin the exam. Once the exam has been completed, the images are reviewed
by the Radiologist and then the results are discussed with the patient. If a
biopsy is recommended, the staff will assist with the scheduling of the
procedure at which time the nursing staff provides pre and post care. The Breast
Health Center also provides a wide range of educational materials for
patients.
Early detection is critical to the successful treatment of breast cancer. The Sarasota Memorial Breast Health Center offers exceptional clinical expertise, state-of-the-art screening, diagnostic and treatment technology including the following:
