The Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Program offers a
full spectrum of physical rehabilitation for the breast cancer survivor
in a supportive environment. Loss of strength and function of the
shoulder and a decrease in overall fitness often accompanies the
surgical removal of the breast and lymph nodes. The Breast Cancer
Rehabilitation Program allows clients to participate in treatments
most appropriate for their stages of recovery. Services may include
post-operative physical or occupational therapy, general exercise
and fitness, and lymphedema (swollen arm) management.
In collaboration with the patient's physician, each program is individually
designed based upon the patient's needs and current stages of treatment.
In an atmosphere of wellness and hope, support and education is provided
to teach each woman to identify and manage those risk factors over
which she has control. This program is staffed by a physical
therapist trained in the special needs of the breast cancer survivor.
Our program is modeled after the nationally renowned "Recovery
in Motion" breast cancer rehabilitation program.
Treatment options include:
Comprehensive management of lymphedema (swelling)
Restoration of range of motion, strength and function
Pain management
Home exercise programs
Post-op management of breast reconstruction
